1L Mobil DTE Oil Heavy/Medium
Mobil DTE Oil Heavy/Medium is an ISO VG 68 grade Circulating Oil.
The Mobil DTE Oil Named Series of lubricants are premium performance circulating lubricants designed for applications including steam and hydro turbine sets and other systems where long lubricant service life is required.
Mobil DTE Oil Named Series lubricants are formulated from highly refined base stocks and an additive system which provide an extremely high level of chemical and thermal stability, rapid and complete separation from water and a high resistance to emulsification. They provide excellent protection against rust and corrosion, including resistance to salt water, and good antiwear properties. They have a high viscosity index which ensures minimum variation of film thickness with temperature and minimum power loss during the warm up period. These grades have excellent air release properties which allow entrained air to separate, thus avoiding pump cavitation and erratic operation.
Bridgeport specify Mobil Vactra Heavy/Medium for use in the following applications on their mills
- J Head - Pulley Cam, Spindle Bearing/Quill Feed, Quill Bearings
- 2J/2J2 Head - Spindle Down Feed, Drawbar Splines
- Mechanical Table Feeds - Drive Bevel gears, Wormsheel and Change Gears
- M Head - Spindle Bearings
- E Head - Ram and Connecting Rod
Mobil Vactra Heavy/Medium is an ISO VG 68 grade R&O lubricating oil which is no longer in production. The modern day equivalent oil from Mobil that can be used instead is Mobil DTE Oil Heavy/Medium which can be used wherever Mobil Vactra Heavy/Medium is specified. Do not confuse this oil with Mobil Vactra Oil No.2 which is a slideway oil, and very different.

Cincinnati Milacron are an American machinery manufacturer. To simplify specification of machine oils for their machines, they adopted an approved products list, grouping oils from various manufacturers into categories with minimum specifications. Instead of specifying one particular manufacturer of oil for their machines, they suggest you choose an oil from the approved products list in the relevant category.
This oil appears in the P-54 category. The following oils are also approved under the P-54 category. If an oil is present on this list, it is a good indication that it is of similar specification to this oil, and could possibly be substituted, however, additional checks should be made with the manufacturers data sheets before substituting.
